SOUNDS OF LEGACY

Music Therapy to Empower Seniors

The Sounds of Legacy program engages seniors through familiar songs, promoting social interactions and enhancing their overall quality of life. By fostering physical well-being, positive attitudes, and enrichment for the mind, body, and spirit, this program tailors activities to each individual’s ability. Participants engage in drum circles, singing, and song creation, often drawing from nostalgic tunes that evoke memories from their youth.

Music therapists and volunteers in a recreational music session developed to stimulate and engage older adults with dementia.

““Playing this drum makes me want to get up and do everything. I feel the vibrations coming out of the drums and into my fingers as well as my heart. Thank you!”
