SOUNDS OF LEGACY
Music Therapy to Empower Seniors
The Sounds of Legacy program brings the familiarity of favorite songs to seniors in a broad variety of settings. It provides seniors with invaluable social experiences as well as improved quality of life by fostering physical well-being, healthy attitudes, and enrichment for mind, body, and spirit. Sounds of Legacy tailors activities to the ability of each individual, helping all to participate in and benefit from drum circles, singing, and song-making, typically drawing from songs from the 1940s through the 1970s.
Music therapists & Joy Giver volunteers using songs & musical instruments in an actual recreational music session developed to stimulate & engage older adults with dementia.
““Playing this drum makes me want to get up and do everything. I feel the vibrations coming out of the drums and into my fingers as well as my heart. Thank you!”
