In January 2018, Resounding Joy will join Hope for People International for an incredible and immersive journey. Through cross-cultural excursions and music-centered community outreach, music therapists and Joy Givers will experience the JOY of India. Joy Giver Outreach International – India is a two-week service project in the rural village of Mori, India. Participants will receive training from board-certified music therapists to implement recreational music activities with older adults and at-risk youth.
Known as a low-caste village, Mori’s community rarely has access to arts-based and integrative health programs. Our goal is to provide interactive music programs to communities in need, while educating our American team about cross-cultural music applications.
In addition to service outreach, participants will enjoy cultural excursions to:
- Weaver village – watch sarees being created on a hand loom
- Cashew-roasting factory
- Holy places of worship
- Godavari river
- Bay of Bengal
- and much more!
