Q     How often does Resounding Joy offer Junior Joy Giver training?

     Depending upon demand and number of volunteers ready to train, Resounding Joy schedules training classes one or two times per month. Training typically requires attending classes on a Saturday from 9:00am–3:30pm.

Q     Do Junior Joy Giver volunteers pay for training?

     Resounding Joy doesn’t charge volunteers for training, however, volunteers train with the understanding that they will volunteer their time as Junior Joy Givers one or two times per month for one year after they graduate training.

Q     What kinds of training materials do Junior Joy Giver volunteers receive?

      Learning occurs through hands-on experience. No lectures or textbooks. Upon completion of training, Resounding Joy welcomes Junior Joy Giver volunteers to borrow from its library of rhythm instruments for practice and use in Mindful Music visits.

     Resounding Joy music therapists or interns supervise Junior Joy Giver visits with seniors on alternating Saturdays during business hours.

     Junior Joy Giver volunteers can expect to spend between one and two hours with seniors during a Mindful Music visit.

Q     Can Junior Joy Giver volunteers choose to serve a neighbor or a family member?

     Yes, of course! And Junior Joy Giver volunteers who make visits to their neighbors or family members are free to choose the day and time that best suits their schedules. Resounding Joy uses a phone app that allows Junior Joy Givers to submit reports of their volunteer visits quickly and easily. Resounding Joy requires accounting of all volunteer man-hours for funding purposes.
